Garage Door Sensor Repair & Safety Alignment
Photo-eye safety sensors realigned, rewired or replaced so your door closes properly and stops reversing.
If your door goes down halfway and rolls straight back up, or the opener light blinks and nothing happens, the safety sensors are almost always the reason. The two photo-eyes near the floor have to see each other perfectly — a nudged bracket, a spider web, a sun glare or a nicked wire is enough to break the beam.
These sensors are a legal safety requirement on every opener made since 1993, and they are what stops a door closing on a child, a pet or the back of your car. We realign, rewire or replace them so the system is safe and reliable again.
Signs your safety sensors have failed
- The door closes partway then immediately reverses
- The opener light blinks repeatedly and the door will not move
- One sensor light is off, or flickering instead of steady
- The door only closes if you hold the wall button down
- A sensor bracket has been knocked loose or bumped by a vehicle
- Chewed, pinched or corroded sensor wiring
What the service covers
- Precise realignment of both photo-eye sensors
- Sensor wiring repair, replacement and re-routing out of harm's way
- Full sensor unit replacement where the eye has failed
- Bracket replacement and secure remounting
- Opener logic board diagnostics when the sensors test good
- Safety reverse and force testing to current standards

Garage Door System Sensor Repair — FAQs
Why does my garage door open but not close?
Nine times out of ten it is the safety sensors. The opener will always let the door go up, but it refuses to close if the photo-eye beam is broken or the two sensors are out of alignment.
Why is my garage door opener light blinking?
A blinking opener light is the standard signal that the safety sensor circuit is interrupted — misaligned eyes, a blocked beam, or a broken wire. The blink pattern varies by brand and tells us exactly where to look.
Can I just bypass the sensors?
No. Disabling them is unsafe and violates the safety standard every opener sold in Canada is built to. They are the last line of defence against a door closing on a person or pet — we repair them properly instead.
